About the project

In-Vessel Melt Retention Severe Accident Management Strategy for Existing and Future NPPs

The objectives of the EU-IVMR project are:

  • Review existing approach for in-vessel retention
  • Improve in-vessel retention strategies by providing new experimental data and justifying less conservative assumptions
  • Extend the strategies to various designs
  • Investigate possible innovations for in-vessel retention

The project is coordinated by Florian Fichot (IRSN) and consists of 34 international partners.

KTH is one of the leading partners with the task to build 2 new facilities, and involved in computational work as well as in education.

These 2 new facilities are SIMECO-2  and SPAYCOR .
