PULiMS: Pouring and Underwater Liquid Melt Spreading

The Pouring and Underwater Liquid Melt Spreading (PULiMS) facility is a constantly evolving infrastructure for studies on multi-phase interactions at high temperature (up to 1500ºC). The heat transfer, material quenching, underwater propagation or “spreading” and solidification phenomena can be studied. In recent years we extended our experimental studies to more challenging areas such as steam explosion (SE) and formation of the porous solidified beds.

The accurate quantification of the observed processes is the main key to understand them. The PULiMS facility is equipped with fast data acquisition system and high speed cameras.
