Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Medical Imaging
Our division includes the following research groups.
Particle and Astroparticle Physics
Our experimental research covers studies of high-energy proton-proton collisions at the LHC and studies of the high-energy universe with X-rays, gamma radiation and cosmic rays with satellite and balloon-borne instrumentation. On the theory side we focus on physics beyond the standard model, including the origin of neutrino masses and dark matter. We are a part of the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics and the KTH Space Center.
Our ultimate long-term goal is to revolutionize medical x-ray imaging, as we know it today. The new technology will help making the right decision in healthcare and have a fundamental impact on major diseases such as cancer and stroke.
