Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Medical Imaging

We carry out fundamental and applied research centered around elementary and subatomic particles. Our division includes four research groups:

Astrophysics

We study the high-energy universe with X-rays, gamma radiation and cosmic rays with satellite and balloon-borne instrumentation. Read more

The ATLAS detector at CERN

Experimental Particle Physics

Using the ATLAS experiment at CERN, we study the Higgs particle and search for physics beyond the Standard Model. We also develop instrumentation, currently the new High-Granularity Timing Detector for ATLAS at the HL-LHC. Read more

Theoretical Particle Physics

We study fundamental theories that extend beyond the standard model of particle physics. Our research focuses on the modeling of neutrinos and dark matter, unveiling phenomena of neutrino oscillations, particle physics and cosmology. Read more

Physics of Medical Imaging

Our mission is to revolutionize ionizing radiation imaging in medicine, using new detectors, sources, optics, and algorithms. Read more
